    Ricoh layoffs?

I heard that the CEO stepped down and over 20 percent of the techs were let go. Also, Ricoh is getting away from the low end market and printers and sending them back to the dealers. Anyone hear of this? Or have more to add? I wonder if Ricoh is going to sell that division?

Interesting question. There are certainly some things going on; I'm not sure what I'm reading jives exactly with what you're hearing, but there are some jobs going away, or at least being "switched"....

Here are some links. The last might be of most interest:

Ricoh shifting to high-end Cameras. Note, that's cameras ... I don't know if a similar thing is happening in office equipment. Will be interesting to keep an eye on this.

That confirms what I heard from the last article you posted. I 've been told by a friend who used to work for Ricoh until last week, that Ricoh wants to sell back accounts to the local dealers. Mid range products and lower. Small businesses with just one machine. Go the way of telemarketing their product and ordering it online to cut the sales force also. It appears there is no profit in it for them. A slap in the face to those Ricoh customers who were for the most part were IKON clients with Canons. Who were then told at the time of the merger of those two companies; they had to switch to Ricoh and then get dropped by the manufacturer a few years later. Imagine that!
