    This comes after a series of tweets announcing that effective September 1, 2019, all non-exempt Chinese goods will face import taxes of at least 10%. China quickly responded to the news with what foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying called, “necessary countermeasures.”

    Speaking to CNBC, analysts from Cowen have rated these countermeasures as an “11” on a “scale of 1-10.”In addition to devaluing its own currency, China announced that it will cease all American agricultural imports.
