jimbo, turn power off and see if you can move carriage by hand. if you can move it manually, feel the round rod that goes thru the carriage with your finger. if it is noticably dirty or sticky, that may be your problem. clean with rag and alcohol, put a couple of drops of light oil on it, NOT WD40. 3in1 oil is ok. if its physically jammed, it could be a cleaning station problem or paper sensor broken, etc. hope this helps.

hey jimbo. the fax has to have a good, printed alignment page to put thru feeder. it has to have all colrs on it. was paper to be printed on loaded? if so, the best info i can give you is go to www.hp.com/cposupport and put your model# in, pick the correct model from next list, pick "front panel error messages", then "print cartridge alignment error messages", and follow flowchart. hope this helps. good luck!
